Current
and Future Programs
Home Ownership Classes
All community residents are invited to attend and learn the ins and outs of home ownership.
Part 1 began in of October 2007.
There will be a part 2 to this course that will give residents
an overview of the various areas of home repair.
Venturing and Exploring Club
Supported by the Boys Scouts, boys and girls
from 14 years old to 17 years old can participate in this
organization. We began in Winter 2007 with an
entrepreneurially-oriented initiative. This program teaches
teens how to start
and run a business. There will be several start-up businesses
involved for hands-on experience.
Boy Scouts
Preparations are underway to duplicate the success
of our Cub Scout Troop 299 with older boys by way of a Boy
Scout Troop.
Girl Scouts
We cannot leave the girls out! Plans are underway
to develop a Camden Girl Scouts Troop as well.
Employment Services
Participants are trained in how to act in the
workplace, how to interview, how to dress and are given clothes
appropriate for a job interview. Employment services have
begun in a modest way and will grow as available support allows.
Currently participants are referred to local temporary agencies and a
state workforce preparation agency.
Chess Team
We are looking forward to providing chess lessons
and a building a Whitman Park Chess Team in 2008.
